Given the amount of things you hear about the Sincerely Yours bands, jj, The Tough Alliance, Air France, and now CEO, all of which is deserved, it’s really surprising you don’t hear more about Avner. I certainly wish I’d have heard of him earlier. His album Lyssna came out last year, but I only started listening to it a few months ago. He inhabits the same dreamy pop space as the rest of the SY crew but with tighter and more consistent songcraft and less electronic elements. His songs are in Swedish though, and maybe that limits his appeal for some people. But now that I’ve listened enough, I think that Lyssna‘s the best album Sincerely Yours has put out.

I’ve chosen to highlight singles from the record, but the album tracks are stellar too, and it’s really varied, from indie pop to ambient, bit of noisy experimentalism, a Daniel Johnston cover (posted above), and a beautiful reverb-drenched piano ballad.
